Saturday 15th March – Paria Bay (hike 1 way, boat 1 way)

About this Event

A hike to Paria bay is one that promises not to disappoint! It is one of the most picturesque spots in Trinidad. The beach with its silky smooth sand is 1.5 km long and every year lends itself as a nesting ground for the leatherback turtles during the months of February to July. On the eastern end of the beach, the calm waters of the River’s Mouth is a lovely spot to bathe and relax. On the western end of the bay, the beautiful arch called Cathedral Rock was created by the erosion of the landscape by the sea.

A brief walk alongside the river takes us to the beautiful Paria Waterfall with its fresh, clean water coming from remote areas of the Northern Range and ending in a large plunge pool adorned with local lilies and heliconia.

The journey from the Blanchisseuse, Spring Bridge to Paria Beach will take 2 – 3 hours depending on your level of fitness. So be prepared, wear comfortable sneakers and pack lots of water. The trail is wide and clear with moderate inclines along the path. Before one reaches Paria bay, you must stop by Turtle Rock. It’s a perfect location to take pictures of the breath-taking landscape.

🌿Level: 7 / 10 CHALLENGING (approximately 3 hrs – 3.5 hrs walk with inclines.)

💰Cost: $200 (includes light refreshments and return journey on the boat. We will be hiking to Paria and taking the boat back).

🚕Transportation: $80.00 additional – Limited spots available.

🚘Parking: $25 cash on the day

🚙🛻Meeting point for drivers: Uncle Sam’s, Maracas Bay *we will then drive in our own cars to the start of the trail. The meeting point is not the start of the hike.
