The OWTU Butler Classic is one of Trinidad and Tobago’s most meaningful Labour Day sporting events, hosted by the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) in honor of labour pioneer Tubal Uriah Butler.

Traditionally held on Labour Day morning, after a seven-years the wait is over! The Return is finally here.The event brings together competitive athletes, recreational runners, walkers, and families in a celebration of endurance, unity, and working-class pride.

Featuring a 20K Run/Walk, 5K Run and a 0.7K Children’s Race, the Butler Classic blends athletic excellence with historical significance. More than just a race, it commemorates Butler’s contribution to the labour movement in Trinidad and Tobago and reflects the OWTU’s continued commitment to community engagement, youth development, and national solidarity. It is both a sporting challenge and a tribute to resilience and social justice.

20k Route Starts from OWTU building 99a Circular Road, San Fernando to Charlie King Junction, Fyzabad

5K Route Starts by Butler Statue. Runs on Guapo Rd, #37 Road, connects back to Guapo, turns into Khan Trace, Delhi Rd, to finish line.

0.7K Route Starts at A, Charlie King Jct. The finish line is at B which is the finish line for all the races. It makes a loop using Guapo Rd, Khan Trace, Delhi Rd and Oropouche Rd.
